Semi Daonil 2.5 mg (Glibenclamide Tablets)
Semi Daonil is group of medicines called sulphonylureas. Glibenclamide tablets is used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Insulin, a hormone produced by the body metabolizes sugar in the blood. When the body does not produce insulin in the required amounts, the blood sugar level in the body increases, this results in diabetes. Glibenclamide (GBC) is an oral hypoglycemic medication that stimulates the pancreatic beta cells to secrete insulin and is mainly used to treat diabetes, including diabetes during pregnancy. It is used to control blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This type of diabetes is also known as Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes (NIDDM) or maturity onset diabetes. Semi Daonil can be used individually or in combination with insulin or other anti-diabetes medicines.
Semi Daonil is used for the reduction of blood sugar levels in patients suffering from Type II diabetes mellitus. Semi Daonil is recommended to follow a controlled diet and exercise regularly along with taking this medicine to obtain better results.
Semi Daonil 2.5 mg works mainly by stimulating the cells in the pancreas that generate insulin. These cells are called beta cells. Semi Daonil causes the beta cells to produce more insulin. This helps to decrease the amount of sugar in the blood of people with type 2 diabetes.
